But it’s changing and it’s going to mess my whole day up :(
I believe the correct phrase is “Wake up with Moyles, get home with Mills”. But I’ll let it slide.
it doesnt manifest in people treating queer ships as better/more interesting than het, and it doesn’t manifest in people caring the most about canonically gay white dudes
what its like is watching people in a fandom, like sherlock for example, constantly treat the intentional subtext like its actual queer representation and watching them continually call any homoerotic moment GAAAAAAY or “totally heterosexual”.
GUESS WHAT. IT IS HETEROSEXUAL. especially in a fandom like sherlock where pretty much everyone involved continually says they’re not gay, they’re not any kind of queer just two regular cishet dudefriends man why would you think their queer its not like were intentionally putting in a lot of homoerotic subtext in to lure fans in or make gay joke totally not. They are, for all intents and purposes, not an actual queer couple and at least one of them is straight. Not gay. Totally heterosexual. and i am being genuinely sincere when i say that.
its totally cool to ship them or appreciate the subtext but as a queer person i am so fucking sick of seeing “no homo” homoerotic subtext treated as actual queerromantic/erotic (sub)text instead of a device to titillate the audience. because thats what it is in nearly all of tumblrs favourite fandoms.

Michael Buckely and Jim Cantiello should team up, together they could spread even more hate, prejudice, bias and discontent to those who do not fit into their personal ideal of what a gay man should be, or act like. Together they could really promote the message that these young men should just give up, cause who would ever love them? No one according to these two, people who’ve made mistakes never deserve to be loved, the wise words of Michael Buckely and Jim Cantiello.
…or you could just take what they say with a grain of salt as they have advised many times. don’t get me started on stand up comedians. we should all hate them too. ban them from television and the internet while you’re at it… or you know, just learn how to take a joke.
Yeah, nothing like confirming a dozen young men’s worst fears, letting it be known that the worst things they think about themselves are true and that they should just give up on it ever getting any better, because it won’t for them. And yeah, comparing two fictional characters to Rihanna and Chris Brown, and his vicious attack of her is totally hilarious and should be encourage. I’m glad you let me know, I’m going to take a leaf out of yours and their book and start making fun of people because of their appearance and telling them they’ll never be happy or loved, oh but it’s not mean, it’s all just in good fun, and that makes everything ok!
I like that this was reblogged and sent to my ask so I might as well justify myself here as well:
I think the whole point of the episode was to show that it isn’t true. Buck and Jim are both popular online because of the fact that they make fun of the show. I do not for a second believe that either of them think that the desperation and depression that Karofsky felt in the episode was acceptable. They put on personas as part of their job. If you have ever watched Dear Buck you’d know that Buck really does take it seriously. It’s much like on the show except instead of separating the character from the person you have to separate the two sides of the person: the persona and the actual human being. Once you get past that you shouldn’t feel the need to take it quite so seriously. And this is coming from someone who was deeply affected by Karofsky’s storyline in the episode. I was friends with Jamie Hubley, a 15 year old boy who committed suicide in October because he was bullied for being gay. I’ve seen that pain first hand. While I don’t think it would be okay or acceptable in any form for someone to joke about it or say that my friend James did not deserved to be loved because of his sexuality, I can understand that Jim and Buck do not actually feel that way. It’s part of their job, much like comedians. You poke fun at controversial topics because people will talk about it. It’s fucked up but that’s the way it is. People just need to learn to laugh at it sometimes.
^Yes. This.
